Patrick Wells began his investment career at Broyhill, joining the firm as a fresh graduate from Wake Forest University and diving headfirst into the rigorous CFA program. His early years were shaped by a passion for research, discipline, and a deep interest in markets—all traits that set the foundation for his future in portfolio management.

After several formative years at Broyhill, Patrick went on to spend nearly a decade with a prominent New York investment firm, where he refined his analytical skills and broadened his perspective across asset classes and investment strategies. Ultimately, it was a desire to return to his North Carolina roots—and a belief in Broyhill’s long-term, research-driven approach—that brought him back home.

Now serving as Director of Separately Managed Accounts, Patrick leads our SMA strategies and plays a key role on the investment team, evaluating portfolio holdings, generating new ideas, and ensuring that client portfolios reflect the firm’s highest conviction thinking.

Patrick lives in Charlotte with his wife and two young children. Outside the office, he’s often spotted pounding the pavement—sometimes for a run, and other times in pursuit of his energetic toddler.
